I received an email via my ACLU membership today. Apparently, there are some interesting things going on behind our backs; or at least there will be if people don’t take action. A Senate committee will be meeting privately to discuss the Patriot Act. You know, that Act that invades our privacy?
Do you remember that old commercial about privacy and your internet searches? The one where the guy is walking down the street and people keep mentioning information he searched on the internet. “How’s that erectile disfunction, Jim?” Imagine that the government is giving the FBI the power to search any little detail about your life - what books you buy, what subscriptions you maintain, etc. - with no reason for the search. What does this information have to do with protection from terrorism? They need to quit grasping at straws to cover their own butts and leave my butt alone!
