Okay, so at first I was totally comfortable with the “Christian Values” widely upheld by a vast majority of the Republican Party. Lately, as I watch our great nation founded on “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” spiralling out of control; I wonder what the future holds. As a “social progressive” and “fiscal conservative”, I typically get labeled a “Libertarian”, which I don’t mind. I usually just say I’m “independent”.

Now, back to my thought.

As I hear more and more about preachers, priests, pastors, ministers and reverends getting involved in the political areana, I fear for my country. While using their pulpits as political grandstand; they (the clergy) spew rhetoric about Iraq, the U.S. Government and mobilize the foot-soldiers of the Christian Right to vote for any candidate they deem worthy. Don’t believe me? Read the news, all three branches of government are packed with “Christian Right Elite”. These are ironically also the people crafting dirty deals with Big Business (especially Big Oil…Thanks G.W. for keeping our environment safe. =-P) and provoking most of the Arab Nations into a state of frenzy. Somehow, I  don’t feel Jesus, or any deity would approve. As a strict secularist and profound believer in the separation of church and state, I can’t help but to hope the general population of the United States of America starts to get it’s act together. Hopefully we will all realize we’re slowly morphing a truly great nation into a facist theocracy doomed for failure and start to make a change…I know I’m voting for a change in the mid-terms…Let’s just hope enough people like me show up to make a difference.
