So what about PMS makes me such a b-i-t-c-h? Why now does everything come into this tight, tiny focus where I see every little piece that annoys me? I hate it. It’s like I’m having this out of body experience where I’m watching myself fly off the handle for stupid things. I can see that I’m acting unreasonable - but the problem is that I don’t care by then. I need 2 tylenol and a nap. Peace out! Well, sorta peace, like bitchy peace.

My lofty ego has left the building. I was so proud of my son and credited myself for such wonderful achievements! But, alas, my true nature has shown through. I forgot to plan a party for my son’s 11th birthday. Don’t get me wrong, we’d bought him a gift and taken him to his favorite restaurant; but for some reason, he kept commenting how at his ‘real’ party his friends would come over. So now, here we are, his birthday was Tuesday and I sent him to school this morning with invitations for a party tomorrow. I know - I know, it lacks planning and etiquette. I should have put the party off for another week to allow for planning. But it’s spring break! Everyone is going out of town or camping or anywhere but here. In shame I hang my motherly head at my lack of forethought and know that somewhere tonight, some mother will say, “Didn’t she plan better than this? Why didn’t you give me this sooner?????” And to that I respond, I am a mother, I deal with change the best I can. Please forgive me this motherly transgression. Hate the mother, not the child!!!

Talk about one hectic day. My son attended his first UIL meet today. WooHoo!!! He competed in Maps/Graphs/& Charts, Listening Skills, and Dictionary Skills. He earned, 2nd place, 2nd place, and 1st place respectively. He’s so deep, that crazy Piscean of mine. I told him that he didn’t have to compete in so many areas - he replied, “Well, I signed up for all of them and figured I’d just go with the ones I qualified for.” That’s an interesting way to plan. . . It sure explains now, why he spent so much time after school!

ALSO, the little he-man attended his Blue & Gold Banquet where he received several awards including his ‘Arrow of Light’ award. It’s the only Cub Scout patch that can be worn on a Boy Scout uniform. We took photos of him crossing the bridge from Webelos into Boy Scouts and he received an arrow to keep as well as a gorgeous pocket knive engraved with his initials. Xian stood on stage and presented him with his knife and tied his new Boy Scout Kerchief. I’m so proud - I’m all verklempt! Talk amongst yourselves. . .

Argh! I have bronchitis. It sucks. I have like 20 different pills to take and some make me sleepy and some make me nauseous and others make me jittery. I don’t think I can tell whether I am coming or going. . . Remember the good ole’ days when being sick meant you got to stay home from school? You would drag your pillow and a blanket into the living room and watch “The Price is Right” at 10 a.m.! Ahh - those were the days, now it’s curl up in bed with my laptop and work anyway.

Speaking of watching T.V. as a kid, you know what I miss? The Letter People, Monchichi’s, Wuzzles, Smurfs, Dennis the Menace, and staying up to watch Doby Gillis when it would come on TNT or whatever that network was at 1 a.m. in the morning. Remember Friday and Saturday nights were music videos? TNT’s Up All Night - that woman’s voice was awful. I loved watching Barney Miller and Mash. I like old T.V. it makes me nostalgic - I think I’ll go watch some now. . .curled up. . .on the couch. . .with a blanket and a pillow.

Alas, the coughing has returned. My throat is itchy and I’ve been coughing for about 36 hours straight now. You’d think it would stop when I’m rested and sleeping; but, no. I’m dyin’ here, my ribs are in pain; not having fully recovered from the last bout with tracheitis. . . 2 Words: This Sucks. Medicine is kicking in. . .Goodnight cruel allergies. . .

Love is big business. It is evident on holidays such as Valentine’s, not to mention personal holidays like weddings, anniversaries, etc. Apparently, if you really love someone - you will go out and drop $60 on a bouquet of roses. . . I don’t even love myself that much. I’m very simple when it comes to beauty, I don’t like gaudy. At all. “What the heck are you talking about RaRa?”, you may be asking yourself. Well, we went to interview a florist for our wedding today. Can someone please tell me what planet they are ordering their daisies from that it is going to cost almost $1000? Yes, I said daisies - not roses, not orchids, but daisies. Red, Gerbera daisies. I think I’m going to start growing them in my back yard and trading them for goods and services (get your mind out of the gutter). What’s that you have there? A dozen eggs? I’ll give you 1 daisy. A new car? How about 5,432 daisies? No? Oh well, back to the drawing board and the phone book listings under F. . .

It’s officially less than 200 days to our wedding day. Planning has started to snowball. I bought my dress and it will be here in May. I have a meeting with the florist and we are going this weekend to view the site decked out for another wedding. It’s now starting to get very exciting and crazy all at the same time! I’ve created a detailed Excel spreadsheet to track expenses and am just about to lay out a project plan to ensure nothing is left out - does that make me weird? We need to send out the save the date cards in 2 weeks and I have business card stock and magnets. I’ve made a design - but I’d like to have a few different styles to send out *nudges Pez & Xian*.

Ahh, Hallmark Day is over. Put one more year under the belt for this joyous holiday. We had some friends over and had a nice dinner, embibing in lots of wine. I realized that my girlfriend, Jess, has spent the last 2 Valentines Day’s with us - unplanned, how funny is that? I told her now we’re starting a tradition! I got a very cute Valentine’s day card from my daughter, kids presents are the best! Which reminds me - the new ‘Desperate Housewives’ this Sunday was hilarious!!! I won’t spoil it for anyone who might have recorded it or is waiting to see it in rerun - but OMG it was great.
